Party Animals

These are a couple of the new Orangina ads, which I find quite vulgar. The theme is basically a bunch of half naked party animals.

I don’t know about you, but I just find this totally NOT hot!

On Friday night we went out for some moules frites in the opéra area, so we were able to pass by the Christmas windows in front of Lafayette and Printemps. Here are a couple from Lafayette:

And Printemps:

This year, I would say the Lafayette windows win over Printemps. They’re more fun.

Place 54

Hocus Pocus’ new album came out on October 8th. It’s called Place 54, and it’s so awesome as usual! Unfortunately I can’t make it to their concert which will be on October 23rd at La Cigale in Paris…boo. But I will have to catch one of their shows. Hopefully they’ll come back to Paris for a second date, otherwise I’m just gonna have to go to a different city! These are some ads we saw just in front of the Opéra. I’m so glad they’re starting to get the exposure they deserve!

PS - my list of faves on the album:
1) Smile
2) Vocab! (including the prélude)
3) Mr tout le monde
4) Je la soul
5) Quitte à t’aimer
But the whole album is great.

Rugby men

Seeing as the SNCF decided to go on strike today, I decided to take the metro to work instead of the RER B. At the exit of the metro, some rugby men were lining the hallway cheering me on to go to work. It was kinda nice after such a stressful work week.

A Louis Vuitton ad for rugby? Yes. A Louis Vuitton ad for rugby! For those who don’t already know, the world cup for rugby is going on right now, and in France this year. Which explains all the rugby craziness. PS - Canada’s already out (boo), but France is still in.

Pretty Peonies

pretty peonies
These are the pretty peonies I bought at the market on Thursday. There’s a market just across the street every Thursday and Sunday, and I was able to make a quick run on Thursday because it was a holiday here. I think they’re my new favourite flower. They’re so pretty!

Hocus Pocus
On the way to shopping today, I was quite happy to finally see an ad for Hocus Pocus in the metro. They’re a hip-hop jazz group I discovered in 2003, and I absolutely love them. They were independent before, and now they’re finally with a record company that I’m hoping will get them the media coverage they deserve. An add on the door at a metro station is a good start! We’re going to see their sold out concert on May 31st. I can’t wait!

Kylie loves H&M
Further into the metro station, I met up with Kylie. Apparently she loves H&M. There are a lot of brands getting celebrities to say they love them lately…Mila loves Mango, Scarlett loves Adidas. And now Kylie. What’s with that?

bubble tea
I read about a bubble tea place in Paris months ago, and today we finally went and got some. It’s called ZenZoo, and their bubble tea is excellent. I wonder if there are any other bubble tea places in Paris…

fountain
With matcha bubble tea in hand (Simon had taro), we went across the street to Square Louvois to rest my feet. This is the pretty fountain in the middle of the square, which apparently was where there used to be the 8th opera room in 1793. People used to watch Mozart’s enchanted flute where we were chowing down on our tapioca balls. So crazy!

soba
On the way home, we stopped by a Japanese grocery store and picked up some soba noodles. So simple and so good. All you gotta do is boil them and rinse them in cold water, and sprinkle seaweed on them. Wow, I’m such a good chef!

On our way to pick up Chaise! Last week was “SIDAction” here (SIDA is AIDS in French). It’s a week dedicated to raising money for AIDS.
